WHO WE ARE

The Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics was founded in 1982 by a small group of forward-thinking pediatricians and their colleagues. SDBP is now an interprofessional organization dedicated to improving the developmental and behavioral health of children by providing exceptional leadership and promoting research, education, advocacy, and practice. SDBP advocates for an integrated approach to the biological, psychological, social, educational and cultural influences on children, youth, and their families.

As the leading voice for interprofessional developmental and behavioral pediatric care, our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families by promoting high quality research, education, advocacy, and practice.

Goals:

EDUCATION
Develop and promote life-long teaching and learning through synthesis, translation and dissemination of evidence informed developmental and behavioral pediatric care.

RESEARCH
Develop, promote, and disseminate high quality collaborative research to advance developmental and behavioral pediatric knowledge.

PRACTICE
Advance value-added, collaborative, family-centered, evidence informed care and the workforce that
provides it.

ADVOCACY
Advocate for the optimal development and behavioral health of children and their families while supporting the workforce thatprovides it.

VISIBILITY
Prominently lead and collaborate with other stakeholders for developmental and behavioral pediatric care.
